How to Avoid Common Errors in Agricultural Labeling?

1. Incorrect Product Name

Use Standardized Names: Product names should use the names specified in national, industry, or local standards. If no such standards exist, a common or colloquial name that will not mislead or confuse consumers should be used.

Avoid False Advertising: Exaggerated or absolute terms such as "all-natural," "additive-free," or "cures XX disease" are prohibited. Uncertified organic or green labels are also not allowed.

2. Incomplete Place of Origin Information

Specific to County (City, District): The place of origin should include the province, city, county, township, and town (street) where the planting or breeding took place. Specifying the township or village is encouraged.

Imported Product Labeling: Imported agricultural products must include the country (region) of origin and the name, address, and contact information of the domestic agent, importer, or distributor in Chinese.

3. Production Date and Shelf Life Issues

Clearly Label Production Date: For agricultural products with shelf-life requirements, the production date (or batch number) and shelf-life should be clearly labeled, or the product batch number and expiration date/expiration date should be indicated.

Indicate Storage Conditions: If the shelf life is related to storage conditions, it must be indicated, for example, "Refrigerate required."

4. Other Common Errors

Additive Labeling: If food additives such as preservatives and freshness-preserving agents are used in packaging, preservation, and storage, the name of the additive should be indicated.

Label Text Standards: Labels should use standard Chinese characters, with clear handwriting and a font height of no less than 1.8 mm. They must not contain false, erroneous, or misleading content.

Risk Warnings: For special agricultural products such as seeds, risk warnings should be consistent with the variety approval announcement or actual performance, and false advertising is prohibited.

5. Special Requirements for Different Types of Agricultural Products

Primary Agricultural Products: Must be labeled with product name, place of origin, producer or seller name, and production date. It is recommended to label shelf life and storage conditions.

Pre-packaged Agricultural Products: In addition to general requirements, must also be labeled with a nutrition facts table, food production license number (SC number), and product standard code.

Organic Agricultural Products: Must be labeled with the organic product certification mark, the name of the certification body, and the organic code. Products in the conversion period must clearly indicate "organic conversion."
