Mixture Labeling: For mixtures, the top 5 main components contributing to the hazard classification and their concentration ranges should be indicated. For confidential components, their hazard characteristics must be stated.
✅ Example: It should be labeled "Chlorine-containing Disinfectant (Main Component: Sodium Hypochlorite, 8%)", not "Powerful Stain Remover".
II. Prevent Missing or Incorrect Pictograms
Strictly match hazard categories according to GB 30000 series:
Flammable Liquids → Flame Icon (GHS02)
Corrosive Substances → Corrosion Icon (GHS05)
Acute Toxicity → Skull and Crossbones (GHS06)
Ensure Graphic Standards: White background, black symbols, red border, diameter not less than 1/3 of the label width.

III. Correcting Inappropriate Use of Signal Terms
"Danger" vs. "Warning": "Danger" is suitable for high-risk categories, such as explosives, flammable gases, and highly corrosive substances (e.g., concentrated sulfuric acid).
"Warning" is suitable for lower risks, such as skin irritation and eye irritation.
⚠️ Note: When multiple hazards exist, only use the highest-level signal term; do not use "Danger" and "Warning" side-by-side.
IV. Ensuring Complete and Accurate Hazard Statements
Use Standard Hazard Statements:
e.g., "H314: Causes severe skin burns and eye damage"
"H225: Highly flammable liquid and vapor"
❌ Do not write your own descriptions; you must use the fixed phrases specified in national standards.
All hazard statements should be arranged in the order of Physical → Health → Environmental.
V. Precautionary Information Must Be Complete and Matched
Complete information must include four categories of measures:
Precautions (P2xx): e.g., P280 "Wear protective gloves/goggles/face shield"
Incident Response (P3xx): e.g., P305+P351+P338 "If in eyes: Rinse slowly with water for several minutes"
Safe Storage (P4xx): e.g., P403 "Store in a well-ventilated place"
Disposal Procedures (P5xx): e.g., P501 "Dispose of according to local regulations"
Precautionary information should be tailored to the actual risks, avoiding generalizations and vague statements.
VI. Prevent Inconsistencies Between Labels and SDS Content
Establish a "One Book, One Label" linkage mechanism: The chemical name, ingredients, hazard class, emergency contact number, precautionary measures, etc., on the label must be completely consistent with the SDS.
Companies should assign a dedicated person to be responsible for comparing the two documents and revising them simultaneously during updates.
📌 Legal Basis: Article 15 of the "Regulations on the Safety Management of Hazardous Chemicals" clearly stipulates that the content of the label and the SDS must be consistent. VII. Ensure Emergency Contact Numbers are Effective and Available
A 24-hour Chinese emergency contact number must be provided:
Domestic Chemicals: Provided by the manufacturer or its authorized agency.
Imported Chemicals: At least one 24-hour emergency contact number within China must be provided.
Regularly test call connection rates and professionalism to avoid disconnected numbers or transfers to unqualified personnel.
VIII. Prevent Labels from Being Loosely Affixed or Improperly Positioned
Material Requirements: Use waterproof, oil-proof, and corrosion-resistant materials (such as PVC, aluminum composite panels) to ensure they do not fall off during transportation.
Affixing Position Specifications:
Barrels/Bottles: A prominent location on the side, avoiding obstruction by handles.
Boxes: A prominent location on the end or side.
Bags: Securely attached to the surface to prevent slippage and detachment. The bottom edge should ideally be 1.5–2 meters from the ground for easy identification.
IX. Avoid Using Outdated Regulations or Standards
Pay Attention to Standard Updates:
The current standard in effect is GB 15258-2009 (GHS Second Revision).
The new standard will be upgraded based on GHS 11th Revision (released in 2025), and is expected to be gradually implemented starting in 2026.
GB 30000.1-2024 was implemented in August 2025, adding new requirements such as the classification of desensitized explosives.
It is recommended that companies establish a regulatory tracking mechanism and regularly review whether labels comply with the latest national standards.
X. Simplified Labels for Small Packages Must Include All Items
Volumes ≤100mL can be simplified, but at least the following information must be retained:
Chemical Name (Chinese and English)
Pictogram
Signal Words
Hazard Statement
Emergency Contact Number
Supplier Name and Contact Number
❌ Missing any item is considered non-compliant, especially the emergency contact number and pictogram, which are often omitted.
