How to determine if food packaging labels are compliant?

I. Content Completeness Prepackaged food labels must include the following mandatory information:

1. Food name (must reflect the true nature of the product)

2. Ingredient list (arranged in descending order of content)

3. Net content and specifications

4. Name, address, and contact information of the producer and/or distributor

5. Production date and shelf life (or expiration date)

6. Storage conditions

7. Food production license number

8. Product standard code

9. Allergen warning (e.g., containing gluten, dairy products, etc.)

II. Food Name Standards The food name must be clearly displayed in a prominent position. Suppose a confusing creative name is used (e.g., "Strawberry-flavored milk drink"). In that case, the true nature of the product (e.g., "Strawberry-flavored flavored milk") must be displayed on the same shelf using the same font and color, and the font size must not be larger than the true nature of the product name.

III. Ingredient List Requirements

1. Ingredient order: All ingredients must be arranged in descending order of quantity. Compound ingredients must be indicated in parentheses as the original ingredients. 2. Specially Emphasized Ingredients: If the food name mentions a certain ingredient (e.g., "contains blueberries") or emphasizes "no additives," the specific content of that ingredient must be indicated.

3. Food Additives: The generic name must be indicated. If a compound ingredient has a national standard and the addition amount is <25%, the additive labeling is exempt.

IV. Date and Storage Conditions

1. Production Date: Must be labeled in a fixed format of "year, month, day," and must not be added, reprinted, or modified.

2. Shelf Life: The expiration date can be indicated to avoid consumers having to calculate it.

3. Storage Conditions: Must be clearly indicated (e.g., "room temperature," "refrigerated"), and storage conditions after opening must also be described.

V. Allergen Labeling: The new standard requires mandatory labeling of eight categories of allergens (e.g., gluten, peanuts, etc.), and imported foods must have Chinese labels, with the foreign language and Chinese content corresponding one-to-one. VI. Other Important Notes

1. Numerical Labels: The new standard adds requirements for numerical labels, which can be extended with QR codes or other means.

2. Pictorial Labeling: If flavor description pictorials are used, the label "Picture for flavor reference only" must be included.

3. Prohibited Terms: Misleading terms such as "not added" or "not used" are prohibited.
